This was once the Charlotte Douglas Municipal Airport Terminal. Opened in 1954 it could handle 13-14 airplanes at a time and was the largest in the Carolinas at the time. It was a 70,000-square-foot passenger terminal that was expanded over time. This Terminal was used for more than 35 years before the new facility replaced it in 1979. Saw this place awhile back when I needed to drop something at the nearby Post Office. Hard to believe this was the airport for Charlotte!

Without being able to see the original VRC pictures right now, I hope these are good enough... I NEVER fly out of Charlotte anymore since changing to Greensboro, so hopefully I'll find a good enough reason to grab a real pic before this place gets plowed under...
